چکیده

In this paper, we investigate the self-affirmation effect on formation of public opinion in a directed small-world social network. The system presents a non-equilibrium phase transition from a consensus state to a disordered state with coexistence of opinions. The dynamical behaviors are very sensitive to the density of long-range-directed interactions and the strength of self-affirmation. When the long-rangedirected interactions are sparse and individual generally does not insist on his/her opinion, the system will display a continuous phase transition, in the opposite case with strong self-affirmation and dense longrange-directed interactions, the system does not display a phase transition. Between those two extreme cases, the system undergoes a discontinuous phase transition. Small-world network spectra in mean-field theory.

Collective dynamics on small-world networks emerge in a broad range of systems with their spectra characterizing fundamental asymptotic features. Here we derive analytic mean-field predictions for the spectra of small-world models that systematically interpolate between regular and random topologies by varying their randomness. These theoretical predictions agree well with the actual spectra (o...

THE EUROPEAN PHYSICAL JOURNAL B Disease spreading in structured scale-free networks

We study the spreading of a disease on top of structured scale-free networks recently introduced. By means of numerical simulations we analyze the SIS and the SIR models. Our results show that when the connectivity fluctuations of the network are unbounded whether the epidemic threshold exists strongly depends on the initial density of infected individuals and the type of epidemiological model ...

Non-consensus opinion model on directed networks

Dynamic social opinion models have been widely studied on undirected networks, and most of them are based on spin interaction models that produce a consensus. In reality, however, many networks such as Twitter and the World Wide Web are directed and are composed of both unidirectional and bidirectional links. Moreover, from choosing a coffee brand to deciding who to vote for in an election, two...

Consensus over directed static networks with arbitrary finite communication delays.

We study the consensus problem in directed static networks with arbitrary finite communication delays and consider both linear and nonlinear coupling. For the considered networked system, only locally delayed information is available for each node and also the information flow is directed. We find that consensus can be realized whatever the communications delays are. In fact, we do not even nee...

Multi-equilibria Regulation Agent-based Model of Opinion Dynamics in Social Networks

This article investigates the Multiple Equilibria Regulation (MER) model, i.e., an agent-based simulation model, to represent opinion dynamics in social networks. It relies on a small set of microprerequisites (intra-individual balance and confidence bound), leading to emergence of (non)stationary macro-outcomes. These outcomes may refer to consensus, polarization or fragmentation of opinions a...
